Then I remember\u2026as long as I’m breathing, I still have a chance to enjoy life. It’s Never Too Late!!! \ud83d\udcaa\ud83c\udffe\u2764\ufe0f,” she wrote, referencing the title of her recently released memoir It’s Never Too Late<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Of the book, Gibbs added, “I’m thinking about having a book signing or book discussion event in LA. The Emmy nominee and NAACP Image Award winner is best known for roles like the family maid Florence Johnston on hit sitcom The Jeffersons<\/em><\/a>, as well as matriarch Mary Jenkins on 227<\/em><\/a>, for which she also sang the theme song and produced.<\/p>\n The book addresses sides of the actress that she’s never spoken about publicly before. She grew up in a dysfunctional household where she was raised, in part, by an emotionally abusive grandmother, was married for 18 years to a man she describes as both emotionally and physically abusive, and she didn’t achieve widespread success as an actress until she was in her 40s.<\/p>\n Gibbs also shared details about what was perhaps the greatest challenge of her life, when she suffered a brain aneurysm followed by a stroke that nearly killed her in 2006.<\/p>\n Of opening up, Gibbs recently said<\/a>, “Sharing my story hasn’t been easy, but it is a blessing.
