Amy Duggar King<\/strong><\/a><\/span> is trying her best to protect her son, Daxton, from the difficult headlines surrounding the Duggar family.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will always shield him from that,\u201d Amy, 39, shared on \u201cThe Dory Jackson Interview\u201d series<\/span><\/a> via YouTube on Wednesday, May 13. \u201cWhen he\u2019s older, I\u2019m going to explain, \u2018Hey, mom was on a show\u2019 and really kind of tell him, but until then, I get to shield him from a lot of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former 19 Kids and Counting<\/i><\/span><\/a> star said she is grateful her 6-year-old son has the opportunity to be homeschooled, which helps prevent other kids from asking questions about other Duggar family members.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, he is the most social kid on the planet. He has a social calendar, let me tell you,\u201d Amy said with a laugh. \u201cBut as far as, like, shielding him from abuse and hard things about being a child being hurt and all, he doesn\u2019t need to know that. He\u2019s 6 years old. He needs to live in innocence. And I love that he\u2019s having such a beautiful, happy childhood \u2014 a safe childhood. That\u2019s most important.\u201d<\/p>\n

In May 2022, Amy\u2019s cousin Josh Duggar<\/strong> was sentenced<\/span><\/a> to 151 months in prison following his December 2021 conviction on child pornography charges<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

More recently, Amy\u2019s other cousin Joseph Duggar<\/strong> was arrested<\/span><\/a> in March on suspicion of lewd and lascivious behavior involving molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.<\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on March 31 after posting a $600,000 bond.<\/p>\n

In her candid interview with journalist Dory Jackson<\/strong>, Amy \u2014 who said she hasn\u2019t spoken to Joseph, 31, in several years \u2014 opened up about the pressure she sometimes feels to stay strong for her son amid the child abuse and sexual assault allegations.<\/p>\n
