Brian Fallon<\/a><\/b> has returned with his first original solo music in more than five years, sharing two new tracks: \u2018Not Bad For New Jersey\u2019 <\/b>and \u2018Better Before\u2019.<\/b><\/p>\n

Produced by longtime collaborator Butch Walker<\/a>, the songs find the Gaslight Anthem<\/a> frontperson leaning back into the collision of power-pop energy and heartland rock that\u2019s defined much of his songwriting career.<\/p>\n

\u2018Better Before\u2019, co-written with Donovan Woods<\/a>, explores the collapse of a relationship, while \u2018Not Bad For New Jersey\u2019 acts as a scrappy tribute to Fallon\u2019s home state and the resilience it gave him.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Not Bad for New Jersey\u2019 is my way of celebrating what I do and where I\u2019m from,\u201d Fallon says. \u201cI wrote that song looking back on my life the way you do after almost ending up in a crash \u2013 like, \u2018How did I make it through that?\u2019 I really could\u2019ve busted myself open somewhere along the way, but somehow I\u2019m still here, and I\u2019m still in one piece.\u201d<\/p>\n

To celebrate the new music, Fallon and backing band The Painkillers will play a run of intimate US shows next month, kicking off at The Stone Pony<\/a> in Asbury Park on 14th June before dates in Nashville, West Hollywood and Chicago.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll also join Bruce Springsteen<\/a>, Rosanne Cash and Kenny Chesney at Music America: The Songs That Shaped Us \u2013 Celebrating 250 Years of American Music on 4th June in New Jersey.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
