ESPN has named Mike Foss as Executive Vice President, Executive Editor, Sports News and Entertainment, effective immediately. Foss succeeds David Roberts, who announced his retirement at the end of August. Roberts and Foss will work together on a transition of the role in the coming months.<\/p>\n
Foss, who has been ESPN Senior Vice President, Sport Studio & Entertainment, since 2023, steering the creative and operational direction for ESPN\u2019s daily programming, will report to Burke Magnus, ESPN President, Content.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn his nine years with ESPN, Mike has continually demonstrated his collaborative leadership style and excellent organizational and management skills, as well as his boundless vision, innovation and creativity,\u201d says Burke Magnus, President, Content, ESPN<\/strong>. \u201cI am confident that he will continue to do so in his new role and help make us better every day.\u201d<\/p>\n Upon assuming his new role, Foss will gain oversight of ESPN\u2019s sprawling news operation including sports news and coverage, investigative and enterprise journalism, research and digital editorial. He also will begin oversight of ESPN\u2019s Creative Content Unit and Studio Enhancement Team.<\/p>\n Foss will continue collaborating closely with\u00a0The Pat McAfee Show<\/em>\u00a0while the remainder of current role as SVP, Sports Studio & Entertainment will be posted. This role, which will report directly to Foss, will oversee all editions of\u00a0SportsCenter<\/em>,\u00a0First Take<\/em>,\u00a0Get Up<\/em>,\u00a0PTI<\/em>,\u00a0Fantasy Football Now<\/em>, ESPN Audio and Podcasts, Digital Production and original studio programming on Disney+.\u00a0<\/p>\n Foss joined ESPN in 2017 and previously oversaw video production, content creation, and live streaming across digital platforms, including launching ESPN\u2019s official YouTube channels.<\/p>\n Foss began his career in digital sports media at\u00a0USA Today<\/em>\u00a0shortly after graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He founded the successful news property \u201cFor The Win\u201d in 2012, serving as its managing editor until 2015.
