The Charity Commission has opened a case into Princess Eugenie<\/a>\u2019s anti-slavery charity.<\/p>\n

The watchdog said on Wednesday that it had opened a formal compliance case into the Anti-Slavery Collective, which Princess Eugenie, 36, founded with one of her closest friends in 2017.<\/p>\n

The charity has come under growing scrutiny after the Princess\u2019s father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a>, was stripped of his titles following revelations of his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the commission said it was \u201cassessing concerns\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, a spokesman for the Charity Commission said: \u201cWe have opened a regulatory compliance case into Anti-Slavery Collective to continue assessing concerns raised with us about charitable spending. As part of this, we will be engaging further with the charity\u2019s trustees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, the BBC reported that the charity had raised \u00a31.5m in donations but had only spent around \u00a3200,000.<\/p>\n

Much of the money raised came from a gala fundraiser held in London in 2023.<\/p>\n

A source told the BBC it was \u201cdifficult optically to do anything high profile like that again\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Telegraph understands that the watchdog has not opened a statutory inquiry. The body has not yet produced any findings or drawn any conclusions.<\/p>\n

In 2019, the charity was forced to scale back its activities<\/a> after Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, then the Duke of York, became embroiled in the Epstein scandal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
