Queen Margrethe of Denmark is in hospital after suffering heart
\nproblems.<\/p>\n
She was taken to the Rigshopitalet in Copenhagen after becoming
\nunwell.<\/p>\n
In a brief statement, issued soon after her admission on May 14,
\nthe Danish royal house said that Queen Margrethe was tired \u201dbut in
\ngood spirits\u201d after her admission.<\/p>\n
It confirmed she had had heart issues, thought to be angina, and
\nwould be in hospital for several days.<\/p>\n
Angina is when the muscles in the heart don\u2019t get enough blood
\nand start to cramp. It causes pain, pressure and
\nbreathlessness..<\/p>\n
The royal house said that Margrethe\u2019s treatment and observation
\nwould continue over thew eekend.<\/p>\n
It added that it would only speak when there are updates.<\/p>\n
Queen Margrethe, 86, has had a busy public agenda in recent
\nweeks. She has carried out a number of engagements and recently
\ntravelled to Sweden for the 80th birthday celebrations of King Carl
\nSVI Gustaf.<\/p>\n
Margrethe reigned in Denmark from 1972 until 2024 when she
\nabdicated in favour of her son, Frederik X.<\/p>\n
She remains a hugely popular and highly respected member of the
\nroyal family and is widely admired for her reign and the changes to
\nboth monarchy and society that took place during her 52 years on
\nthe throne.<\/p>\n
