The Wheeler Opera House will present its second annual Roaring Fork Rising performance series designed to showcase local talent hosted at The Vault. Upcoming performances feature Aggie Flores & the Wildflowers at 7 p.m. May 15. Rai Omri will be back for the second time with Abigail Benning at 7 p.m. May 16, and Aspen-born musical artist Emery Major returns from Nashville with Hannah Koivu at 7 p.m. May 22. City of Aspen Electronic Waste Drop-off community recycling event, May 16<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The city of Aspen will host an Electronic Waste Drop-off community recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon May 16 at the Marolt Housing parking lot at 100 Marolt Place. The free electronic waste collection will be done in a drive-through-drop-off format, with attendees remaining in their vehicles while staff unload the electronics. It\u2019s only open to residents and personal e-waste, including small household items such as computers, televisions, printers, keyboards, phones and alarm clocks. Business waste will not be accepted. Prohibited items include light bulbs, refrigerators, large appliances, air conditioners, thermostats and smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. Grateful Dead tribute band, \u201cAn Evening with Easy Jim,\u201d will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. May 16. This popular Colorado-based band follows the Grateful Dead\u2019s tradition of never playing the same show twice, often leading to musical riffs on stage and sold-out shows. The band draws inspiration from the Dead\u2019s 1989 creative year. This show is for ages 21 and older. A valid photo is required. City Hall Biennial Exhibition, beginning May 16<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Aspen Public Art presents \u201cCity Hall Biennial Exhibition\u201d from May 16 until April 6 at Aspen City Hall, located at 427 Rio Grande Place. The third edition of this program will feature local and regional artists highlighting the region\u2019s creative talent. Featured artists include Wally Graham, Christie Helm, Marilyn Lowey, Nika Meyers, Leah Potts, Tamara Susa, Jeremy Swanson, Jenny Welden, Lara Whitley, Chloe Wilwerding and Lindsey Yeager. Tom Benton\u2019s political posters will also be on display, represented by DJ Watkins and the Aspen Collective Gallery. \u2018Spot It Early: Skin Cancer Prevention\u2019 virtual event, May 18<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n

In honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, a free virtual discussion \u201cexploring skin cancer prevention and early detection strategies, as well as the diagnosis of skin cancer and treatment,\u201d will take place from noon to 1 p.m. May 18, according to the webinar description. This 30-minute webinar led by Calway-Young Cancer Center at Valley View\u2019s Oncologist and Hematologist Aaron Alizadeh, MD will be followed by a question and answer period.
