King Charles<\/a> was offered tap dancing lessons today, after he revealed he owns a pair of tap shoes during an engagement<\/a>. The King joined Sir Idris Elba<\/a> as they both met musical theatre students during a celebration for young people in the industry in central London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Charles met National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT) performers and students from Birmingham CORE Education schools to mark NYMT\u2019s 50th anniversary in Victoria. Bill, a member of NYMT, said the King told him he has tap shoes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He said the King asked him, \u201cDo you learn to tap dance?\u201d, adding: \u201cHe said he owns his own tap shoes and we offered to teach him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n When asked whether they had a lesson booked, the 21-year-old said: \u201cWe failed, but we will follow up.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The King also told the musical theatre students that the best way to understand Shakespeare is to \u201cactually act it\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n In The Other Palace studio, the King and Sir Idris met students who were taking part in drama and musical theatre workshops, and they also watched a performance by a choir made up of some of NYMT\u2019s young performers in the theatre\u2019s main auditorium.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Toby, 22, said he taught the King a \u201cwarm-down technique\u201d in which you blow through a straw to soothe your vocal cords.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n When Sir Idris was 18, he used a grant from The Prince\u2019s Trust (now The King\u2019s Trust) to attend NYMT, a charity which offers music theatre opportunities and experiences to young people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The actor, known for his roles in The Wire and Luther, told students that his school drama teacher got him into NYMT.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Before taking his seat for a performance, which was marked with a velvet \u201cCR\u201d cushion, the King cut a \u201c50\u201d cake and joined in a group photo with the young performers and students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Charles also met staff and supporters of NYMT to hear about their work in reaching the half-century.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Before the King left, he shook hands with members of the public gathered on the street outside the studio as they waved and cheered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n As well as Sir Idris, the organisation\u2019s alumni include Jude Law, Stephen Graham, Toby Jones, Amara Okereke and Callum Scott Howells.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u2018 The preceding article may include information circulated by third parties \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n \u2018 Some details of this article were extracted from the following source www.express.co.uk \u2019 <\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" King Charles was offered tap dancing lessons today, after he revealed he owns a pair of tap shoes during an engagement.
