“It was proximity,” Plumb said in the interview<\/a>, adding: “As a little girl, and he’s a little boy and we’re hanging out and … I didn’t have any other pool of applicants.”<\/p>\nAsked if Knight knew she had a crush on him, Plumb responded: “I don’t think so,” but added that he likely does now: “Probably. Probably. People like to talk about it.”<\/p>\n
In a recent interview with Page Six<\/a>, Plumb said that the two went on a date shortly after The Brady Bunch ended.<\/p>\n\u201cIt was sweet,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was fun, but we were really already by that time just too good of friends to make that transition into being romantic partners.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking to PEOPLE at The Brady Bunch Experience on Tuesday, April 28, in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, Knight weighed in, saying: “Eve was more mature than me very early [and] always had, from the earliest I can remember, her claim on me, but I wasn’t there.\u201d<\/p>\n
“You know, I wasn’t ready to be claimed. I wasn’t even aware for part of that time that it just wasn’t there, right to the very end,” he added.<\/p>\n
And by the time Knight says he began to feel ready to reciprocate, the show was winding down: \u201cAnd right as, all of a sudden, I’m now ready perhaps to turn around and recognize this attention and maybe give some of my own, we’re off the air.”<\/p>\n
