Chris Brown<\/a> isn\u2019t taking kindly to the less-than-glowing reviews of his latest album, \u201cBrown.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Wednesday, the two-time Grammy winner responded to his critics with an expletive-filled video shared to his Instagram Stories in which he also took a swipe at Swedish pop artist Zara Larsson<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI know people want me to get on here and, you know, say some sad shit, but fuck that,\u201d he said in the clip. \u201cWe kickin\u2019 they ass, goddamn it!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

After alluding to his upcoming co-headlining tour with Usher<\/a>, he added, \u201cI know exactly who my fans is and I know exactly who hearing this album. If you not my fan, I don\u2019t want you to listen to my shit. Go listen to motherfucking Zara Larsson or somebody.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Brown didn\u2019t single out any specific review in his rant. However, Pitchfork deemed his album \u201ca real piece of shit\u201d on Tuesday in a viral post<\/a> on X. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The music outlet\u2019s full review<\/a>, written by Alphonse Pierre, wasn\u2019t much kinder. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cChris Brown\u2019s soulless, hit-chasing new album doesn\u2019t justify his return to the public eye,\u201d Pierre wrote, adding that the music \u201cisn\u2019t romantic or funny or sexy or sultry or dancey or soulful or vulnerable or honest or creative or inspired whatsoever.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Brown has been a polarizing figure in the music industry for some time, due in large part to his criminal record<\/a> and subsequent legal troubles. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In 2009, he was convicted of assaulting<\/a> his former girlfriend, Rihanna<\/a>. Last year, he was arrested and taken into custody in Manchester, England, for an alleged physical attack<\/a> on producer Abe Diaw that took place at a London nightclub in 2023. His trial in that case is due to begin<\/a> in October. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Larsson has been enjoying a breakout year following the global success of her 2025 album, \u201cMidnight Sun.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The singer referenced Brown\u2019s past in February when Cosmopolitan<\/a> asked which musicians she\u2019d never include in one of her personal playlists. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s so many artists I have blocked on Spotify, and all of them are, like, abusers,\u201d she told the outlet<\/a>. \u201cYou certainly wouldn\u2019t find a Chris Brown song.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Brown\u2019s rap sheet, however, has seemingly had little impact on his music career as a whole. \u201cBrown\u201d is expected<\/a> to debut at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, which ranks the 200 most popular albums in the country, next week. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continues to enjoy the support of many fellow musicians, as evidenced by his tour with Usher. In 2021, singer Lizzo<\/a> drew backlash after she deemed Brown her \u201cfavorite person in the whole fucking world\u201d in a backstage video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
