Primus<\/a> have surprise-released a new four-song EP titled A Handful of Nuggs<\/em> that includes the brand-new single \u201cThe Ol\u2019 Grizz.\u201d The track offers a preview of the band\u2019s long-awaited new album, which is expected to arrive in 2027.<\/p>\n The new EP comes ahead of the previously announced \u201cClaypool Gold Tour,\u201d<\/a> a bill including the three Les Claypool-led projects Primus, the Claypool Lennon Delirium, and Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. The outing kicks off May 20th in Reno, Nevada, with tickets available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Get Primus Tickets Here<\/a><\/p>\n It\u2019s been nearly a decade since Primus released their last studio album, 2017\u2019s The Desaturating Seven<\/em>, although they did release new songs on the 2022\u2019s Conspiranoid<\/em> EP and 2024\u2019s Sessanta E.P.P.P<\/em> (a collab with Maynard James Keenan on the track \u201cPablo\u2019s Hippos\u201d, as well as the stand-alone single \u201cLittle Lord Fentanyl\u201d<\/a> featuring Puscifer in 2025.<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n The EP is rounded out by a cover of Dio\u2019s \u201cHoly Diver\u201d featuring Puddles Pity Party, the aforementioned \u201cLittle Lord Fentanyl,\u201d and a live version of \u201cDuchess (And the Proverbial Mind Spread).\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Ol\u2019 Grizz\u201d sees the band return to the mutant dark funk-country-metal they pioneered on records like Sailing the Seas of Cheese<\/em>\u00a0and Pork Soda<\/em>. It contains a classic busy Les Claypool rolling bass line and showcases the Neil Peart-inspired work of new drummer John Hoffman.
