Cheyenne Bryant<\/strong><\/a> is pushing back after facing growing online scrutiny over her credentials and use of the \u201cDr.\u201d title.<\/p>\n The Teen Mom: Family Reunion coproducer and life coach, 43, recently sparked backlash after appearing on The Joe Budden Podcast<\/a> and admitting that she\u2019s not a licensed therapist<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI started off as a marriage child therapist about 18 years ago before I obtained my doctor degree in counseling psychology,\u201d Bryant said in the April 27 episode. \u201cOnce I became a doctor of psychology, I transitioned from a therapist to a psychology expert in private practice and so I no longer practice under a license.\u201d<\/p>\n Bryant also argued that professional licenses are primarily needed for insurance billing purposes.<\/p>\n The clip quickly circulated online and critics began questioning both her qualifications and whether audiences were being misled<\/a> by her branding.<\/p>\n In response to the controversy, Bryant defended herself during an interview with Fox 5 DC<\/a>, insisting she had \u201cearned\u201d the title legitimately.<\/p>\n _drbryant\/Instagram<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy proof isn\u2019t something that I have to prove to individuals,\u201d she explained. \u201cMy proof is already in my credentials, my degrees, and also, more than just my title, it\u2019s in how effective I\u2019ve been.\u201d<\/p>\n The wellness guru continued, \u201cI\u2019ve earned the title. I have multiple degrees, and I\u2019m not going to prove anything to anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n According to her official bio<\/a>, Bryant earned dual degrees in psychology<\/a> and Pan African studies from California State University Northridge before pursuing a doctorate at Argosy University. However, the school shuttered all of its campuses in March 2019.<\/p>\n The backlash intensified after online critics began questioning whether or not Bryant\u2019s doctorate credentials could be independently verified after Argosy\u2019s closures.
