Welcome back to the Cannes Film Festival<\/a>, John Travolta<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

And the Saturday Night Fever star stepped out with a noticeably different style this time around, donning circular eyeglasses and a white beret as he attended the May 15 screening of Karma with his and late wife Kelly Preston<\/strong><\/a>‘s 26-year-old daughter Ella Bleu Travolta<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

John, who’s never worn spectacles on the red carpet, paired his look with black three-piece suit and a white collared shirt that matched his hat. The 72-year-old completed his ensemble with a white tie, coordinating pocket square and black patent leather loafers.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ella opted for a sleeveless black evening gown with velvet detailing, which she accessorized with Chopard jewelry and black pointed-toe heels.<\/p>\n

The outing marked John’s first appearance at the prestigious movie event since 2018, when he premiered Gotti and celebrated the 40th anniversary of Grease. While John\u2014also dad to Benjamin Travolta<\/strong>, 15, and the late son Jett Travolta<\/strong>\u2014returned to the festival this year to screen his directorial debut Propeller One-Way Night Coach, he was also surprised with an honorary Palme d’Or award from Cannes director Thierry Fremaux<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In fact, John called the honor a “humbling moment.”<\/p>\n

“I had no expectation that my film would be accepted,” he said of Propeller One-Way Night Coach, based on his 1997 children\u2019s book of the same name. “And when Thierry said it was not only accepted but it was making history because it would be the first film ever accepted that early, I cried like a baby because I just couldn\u2019t believe it.”<\/p>\n

That’s also likely because John considers the film\u2014centered around a young airplane enthusiast traveling to Hollywood with his mother\u2014he the \u201cmost personal film he\u2019s ever done.”<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s really a mixture of my sister and my mother because they both influenced me so deeply,” he shared, “and they were responsible for all my hopes and dreams, and they watched me make them come true.”<\/p>\n

He added, “So, this is just a little taste of my origins and what it was like to be me when I was little.”<\/p>\n
