New details have emerged about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019s isolated life after he was stripped of his royal titles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Bombshell new claims have revealed Mr Mountbatten-Windsor is living an increasingly lonely and reclusive existence, with a royal author suggesting even close family members have distanced themselves from the former prince.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
During an interview in London this week, Dr Andrew Lownie said the disgraced former royal spends much of his time being a \u201cpathetic couch potato\u201d at his home at Marsh Farm on Sandringham Estate, the Daily Telegraph<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Sign up to The Nightly’s newsletters.<\/p>\n Get the first look at the digital newspaper, curated daily stories and breaking headlines delivered to your inbox.<\/p>\n By continuing you agree to our Terms<\/a> and Privacy Policy<\/a>.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The claims appear in Dr Lownie\u2019s 2025 book The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which includes explosive details about Mr Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019s life since he was forced out of royal duties and stripped of his honours and titles by his brother King Charles III.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The royal family revoked the Former Duke of York\u2019s titles due to his long-standing and scandalous association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of sexual abuse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Now, the 67-year-old\u2019s new normal as a recluse is a far cry from the family-focused lifestyle he once lived, with Dr Lownie saying the former prince had been \u201cdisowned\u201d by those closest to him, including his two daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, and his brother.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe\u2019s doing what he\u2019s always really done which is watch TV and sit on the sofa in his dressing gown, but he\u2019s not really engaging,\u201d Dr Lownie said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHe used to go riding, he used to go shooting parties, he used to see his family but I think the really sad thing is his family seem to have disowned him\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n According to Dr Lownie, a tell-tale sign pointing to the family\u2019s \u201cfractured\u201d relations was when it became apparent the former Duke of York only learnt of Princess Eugenie\u2019s pregnancy via his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s a really interesting story because she (Eugenie) didn\u2019t tell her father directly, he learnt from Sarah Ferguson and this suggests that the family relations are much more fractured than people realise,\u201d Dr Lownie added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt must be a very poignant moment, this is a new addition to the family and yet the family are completely broken up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cBut if we remember it was actually Andrew\u2019s first grandchild that was born when he was hiding in Balmoral to avoid a [civil] summons from Virginia Giuffre and he didn\u2019t come down to see his grandchild for some time\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n It comes after other shocking revelations, also detailed in Lownie\u2019s book, of despicable behaviour emerged involving the shocking abuse of a dog and his creepy actions towards a flight attendant.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Outlined in the updated edition of his book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the Duke and Duchess of York, Lownie says the former prince was rebuked after he abused his pet labrador.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The shooting party had gathered for a mid-morning break where soup and sausage rolls were being served when things took an awkward turn.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cSuddenly the dog leapt and snatched the guest\u2019s sausage roll from his hand, causing him to laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n But Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was not amused, instead, Lownie claims he \u201ckicked his dog in the head, leaving her whimpering on the ground\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The guest who told Lownie of the incident said that he admonished the former prince, saying \u201cThat is the most disgusting thing that you have just done to your beautiful dog.
