Princess Catherine reportedly refused to wear a certain outfit at her first Trooping the Colour as Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2023 according to a royal author. She is said to have made the decision out of consideration for Prince Harry<\/a>, saying it “wouldn’t feel right” if she wore a military-inspired outfit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In his biography Kate!, royal author Christopher Andersen has claimed the princess<\/a> declined when it was “suggested she wear a military<\/a>-inspired outfit like the one Camilla wore as honorary colonel of the Grenadier Guards”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He explained: “‘No,’ she replied, ‘I wouldn’t feel right . . . not if Harry can’t do it.’ Kate opted for a green outfit, matching broad-brimmed hat, and her signature gold-and-emerald shamrock brooch.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As reported by Woman & Home<\/a>, the Princess of Wales was entitled to wear a ceremonial uniform as the honorary Colonel of the regiment. However, Prince Harry<\/a> – who lost his honorary military titles after stepping back from royal duties alongside Meghan Markle<\/a> in 2020 – was banned from doing so, despite serving in the British Army for a decade.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although he can wear his medals, the Duke of Sussex, who served twice in Afghanistan, is not permitted to wear is uniform at major ceremonial occasions. An exception was made for the vigil held for Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Harry previously said he was “disappointed” to have lost his military titles, he revealed in his memoir, Spare, that he considered Kate “more sister than in-law, the sister [he’s] never had and always wanted”. She is also reportedly playing a key role as “peacemaker” between Harry and Prince William<\/a> amid their ongoing feud.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In William & Catherine, author Russell Myers said: “Whether counselling William or having a quiet word in Harry’s ear, she saw it as her duty to keep the two brothers on the same team, as did their senior aides.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The princes are believed to have last spoken at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in September 11. They both attended the funeral of their uncle, Lord Fellowes, in August 2024 but reportedly kept their distance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
