A soldier from the King\u2019s Troop Royal Horse Artillery has died
\nafter falling from a horse following a display at the Royal Windsor
\nHorse Show.<\/p>\n
The incident happened at around 7pm on Friday evening as the
\nrider was leaving the arena after taking part in the ceremonial
\ndisplay. Emergency treatment was provided immediately at the scene,
\nbut the soldier suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead
\nshortly afterwards.<\/p>\n
Thames Valley Police said the death is currently being treated
\nas \u201cunexplained but non-suspicious\u201d. Officers have appealed for
\nwitnesses or anyone with video footage or information relating to
\nthe incident to come forward.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued through Buckingham Palace, King Charles
\nIII said he was \u201cgreatly shocked and saddened\u201d by the soldier\u2019s
\ndeath. The Palace added that the King would contact the family
\nprivately to express his personal condolences.<\/p>\n
The four-day Royal Windsor Horse Show, one of the country\u2019s most
\nprestigious equestrian events, continued on Saturday, although the
\nscheduled display by the King\u2019s Troop was cancelled as a mark of
\nrespect.<\/p>\n
Chief Superintendent Michael Loebenberg described the incident
\nas a \u201csad death\u201d and said police were supporting the soldier\u2019s
\nfamily as well as the wider military community and those connected
\nto the show.<\/p>\n
The King\u2019s Troop Royal Horse Artillery is best known for its
\nstate ceremonial duties, including firing royal salutes in London
\non major national occasions. The mounted unit regularly appears at
\nroyal events and public displays across the country.<\/p>\n
The identity of the soldier has not yet been released
\npublicly.<\/p>\n
