Nearly three decades later, fans still love bringing up The Prince of Egypt<\/em><\/a>to Brian Stokes Mitchell<\/a>.<\/p>\nThe actor, 68, provides the singing voice for Jethro in the animated retelling of the biblical Book of Exodus. His song, “Through Heaven’s Eyes,” is a fan-favorite from the 1998 film’s soundtrack, and Stokes Mitchell said he gets references about it “all the time.”<\/p>\n

Stokes Mitchell has starred in a number of Broadway shows throughout his career, including 1998’s Ragtime<\/em>, and 2002’s Man of La Mancha<\/em> \u2014 plus 1999’s Kiss Me, Kate<\/em>, which earned him a Tony award.<\/p>\nThe actor, who previously starred in August Wilson’s King Hedley II in 2001, told PEOPLE he wants his next career move to be a similar one.<\/p>\n
“I’d love to do another August Wilson play, actually, because he’s the American Shakespeare.
