The 54th Kerrville Folk Festival opens Thursday evening at Quiet Valley Ranch, kicking off an 18-day run that brings national and regional acts to the Hill Country through early June.<\/p>\n

Opening night on May 21 features Jamie Lin Wilson, Rich O\u2019Toole, Amanda Anne Platt & the Honeycutters, and The Wilder Blue. Food and craft booths open at 6 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. at the Kennedy Outdoor Theater. The festival continues Friday with Yasmin Williams, Joshua Ray Walker, Kuinka, and The Bright Light Social Hour; Saturday with S.G. Goodman, Bandits on the Run, Next of Kin, and Steep Canyon Rangers; and Sunday with Julian Taylor, Marshall Crenshaw, Madeline Edwards, and Nether Hour. The festival isn\u2019t the only draw this weekend. The 23rd Annual Texas Masters of Fine Art & Craft Invitational Show runs Friday through Sunday at the YO Ranch Hotel \u2014 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information is at texasmasters.com.<\/p>\n

The week\u2019s live music extends well beyond Quiet Valley Ranch. Thursday evening brings the Maplewood Brothers to Howdy\u2019s Bar & Chill and Jason Kane & the Jive to Lazy Days Canteen at Roddy Tree. Friday\u2019s lineup includes the Flashbacks at Truffles & Vines, Mick & the Maestros at the Elm Waterhole Saloon at the YO Hotel, the Maplewood Brothers at The Arcadia Live for its On Deck Happy Hour, and the Q-Tips at Lazy Days. Earlier in the week, the Texas Master Naturalist Hill Country Chapter hosts a free public meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the GBNRC\/UGRA Building.
