As the controversial horror-drama The Devils<\/em> (1971) is celebrated at the France festival with a 55th-anniversary screening<\/a>, new details surrounding The Brutalist<\/em> director Brady Corbet<\/strong>‘s juicy new project were just revealed.<\/p>\n Variety<\/em><\/a> reports<\/a> that Cate Blanchett<\/strong> and Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a> are set to star in the new X-rated movie alongside Michael Fassbender<\/strong>.<\/p>\n During a masterclass at the France film festival on Sunday<\/a>, May 17, Blanchett, 57, reportedly said she is “about to work with Brady Corbet on a film.” Variety<\/em> confirmed that she has indeed been cast.<\/p>\n Corbet, 37, previously said in interviews that he was looking to make an \u201cX-rated\u201d feature set in the \u201970s.<\/p>\n \u201cThe film spans from the 19th century into the present day \u2014 it\u2019s just predominantly focused on the \u201970s. The film is really, really genre-defying,\u201d he told <\/a>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in an interview article published last November 24.<\/p>\n Variety<\/em> also noted on Sunday that at the Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival in Dublin last month, Corbet teased that the new film will be lengthy \u2014 saying it has a 200-page script. Fans of The Brutalist<\/em>, which stars Adrien Brody<\/strong> and Felicity Huffman<\/strong>, might recall that the script was 165 pages, with the film totaling three and a half hours in duration.<\/p>\n Blanchett made headlines last month when Variety<\/em> confirmed she’ll be portraying Martha Stewart<\/a> in an upcoming biopic reportedly titled <\/a>Good Thing<\/em><\/a> about the TV personality\u2019s life and career. Filmmaker Janicza Bravo<\/strong>, best known for 2020\u2019s critically acclaimed film Zola<\/em>, has also been confirmed to direct the project.<\/p>\n Most famously, the 56-year-old Blanchett won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004\u2019s The Aviator,<\/em> in which she portrayed Golden Age of Hollywood legend Katharine Hepburn<\/strong>.
