Maya Hawke<\/a> has admitted that she hates putting out music, despite only releasing her latest album, Maitreya Corso<\/em>, earlier this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Stranger Things <\/em>actor has juggled her film career with her musical exploits for the past six years, releasing four albums and one EP in total since her debut, Blush<\/em>, back in 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, in a new interview with People<\/a><\/em>, Hawke surprisingly confessed a rather negative opinion towards her own music, saying she finds it \u201cyucky\u201d and \u201cpainful\u201d to release, and subsequently hates doing it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always weird. If I\u2019m being honest, I hate putting out music,\u201d she said, before adding, \u201cThere is this pointing at the self, where it feels so great to write all these personal songs, and to record them and make them with your friends, but then you have to promote it, and it feels like promoting your diary.\u201d <\/p>\n

To this end, the singer said, \u201cThere\u2019s something that feels very yucky to me about it, and it\u2019s painful and hard,\u201d despite being \u201cthrilled\u201d that people are now enjoying Maitreya Corso<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hawke\u2019s unconventional stance on releasing music was then even further confounded when she added that it was a \u201crelief\u201d for the album to be out because, \u201cI like to see it more as a funeral for the record than as a release of it, because it was yours, it was this living thing that was movable and changeable, and now it\u2019s this frozen dead thing out in the world that people get to talk about.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a three-and-a-half-star review of Maitreya Corso<\/em>, Far Out<\/a><\/em> observed, \u201cThe album\u2019s greatest strength is absolutely its lyrical poetry, making up for spaces where the sonics don\u2019t totally break new ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

If she does not intend to head back to the recording studio in any great hurry, Hawke\u2019s acting career is set to keep her busy in the meantime with Wishful Thinking<\/em>, One Night Only<\/em>, and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping<\/a><\/em> all being released later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the latter, she is set to be joined by an all-star cast including the likes of Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes, Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, and Kieran Culkin, with the film set to hit cinemas on November 20th. <\/p>\n
