ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-did-russell-andrews-say-about-his-diagnosis\">What did Russell Andrews say about his diagnosis?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cI am a person living with ALS,\u201d he shared on celebrity.land\u2019s <em>The Story Is with Elex Michaelson<\/em> over the weekend. \u201cI was diagnosed in the late fall of last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 64-year-old actor was joined on the program by his fiancee, actress <strong>Erica Tazel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cAnd it\u2019s been humbling but there\u2019s\u2026 Elex, there\u2019s also something in the fact that I walked into a family of very caring people I did not know a year ago\u2026 the clich\u00e9 family, but they have not let us miss a step in terms of care, the attention, the awareness and the ability to get me here today.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Exclusive: Actor Announces ALS Diagnosis\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0ToS94-QvRg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>About possible symptoms, he shared that he thought he possibly had a stroke during the pandemic, and then mentioned he had some twitching that he attributed to pinched nerves in his neck. He shared: \u201cIt was a stressful time. We didn\u2019t work for three years, about, and then we had the back-to-back strikes and so a lot was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, the <em>Straight Outta Compton<\/em> actor said, \u201cI was not able to do things that I normally do\u2026I was dropping cups and glasses at night. It felt like things were running up and down my arm at different times and it was the nerves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way he walked, there was just the subtle little things like that and I had questions.
