The vest was presented to her by WHO director-general, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, with whom she went to Geneva, for her efforts in \u201cpromoting and protecting people\u2019s health\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The WHO chief posted a picture of the mini \u201cceremony\u201d on her X account and shared the message: \u201cDelighted to present Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, with a @WHO field vest as a gesture of my regard for her commitment to promoting and protecting people\u2019s health.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Sunday, the Duchess urged global health leaders to act to keep children safe online, adding they are being shaped by systems \u201cdesigned to capture attention at any cost\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
She spoke at the opening of the Lost Screen Memorial, which was first unveiled in New York last year for young people who lost their lives due to the harmful effects of social media.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Meghan described children\u2019s online safety as a \u201cpublic health issue\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
She told global health leaders, ministers and families affected by online harm: \u201cChildren today are being shaped by systems designed to capture attention at any cost: relentless algorithms, exploitative engagement, and endless exposure to harmful content that they are not seeking out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The event featured an installation of 50 illuminated lightboxes, each displaying the mobile phone lockscreen image of a child who lost their life because of online violence and digital harm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It was hosted the WHO and Archewell Philanthropies, the charitable foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, ahead of the 79th World Health Assembly<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It was also run in partnership with The Parents\u2019 Network, a community of bereaved families advocating for safer online spaces for children and young people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
