\u201cOur other seasons are like a slow fuse ending up with fireworks. This season is a lot of explosions that end up with an atom bomb at the end. No one is going to see this coming.\u201d That\u2019s how Eric Bogosian<\/a> described The Vampire Lestat<\/em><\/a>, aka\u00a0Interview With the Vampire<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>Season 3, to TV Insider on the AMC Upfront carpet in April. That, and, \u201cIt\u2019s pretty exciting. It\u2019s pretty fun. Plus, Sam [Reid]<\/a> is a rock star, and he\u2019s the real thing.\u201d<\/p>\n The Vampire Lestat<\/em> premieres on Sunday, June 7, on AMC<\/a>, and it will give viewers a deeper look at the fledgling vampire Daniel Molloy after he was given the dark gift (off-camera) by Armand (Assad Zaman<\/a>) at the end of Season 2<\/a>. Unsurprisingly, Daniel\u2019s partying a lot with Lestat and his band. But Bogosian told us that \u201cit\u2019s part of the season that Daniel is going through trauma becoming a vampire.\u201d<\/p>\n Daniel had Parkinson\u2019s as a human, and while it hasn\u2019t been explicitly said in the show yet, vampirism should have healed that. Even if he\u2019s no longer living with that disease, Bogosian said, \u201cIt\u2019s hard when you\u2019re becoming a vampire, and you\u2019re also already old and have already lived your life.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe also has other things he has to work out. When Daniel was doing things with Louis, there was a simpatico thing,\u201d the Talk Radio<\/a><\/em> star went on. \u201cThat\u2019s not happening with Lestat. Lestat is the brat, and Daniel is actually kind of a brat, too. They get on each other\u2019s nerves a lot, so that\u2019s a big, fun part of it. Sam can be very funny, and I really enjoyed doing stuff with him.\u201d<\/p>\n Ultimately, Daniel likes the undead life, but even late-onset immortality can\u2019t perfect his existence.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s enjoying it, yes,\u201d Bogosian told TV Insider, \u201cbut Daniel\u2019s in some pretty deep water. This is like getting invited to the fraternity, and they all want to haze you all the time. It can be rough at times for poor old Daniel.\u201d<\/p>\n Viewers have yet to see Daniel meet his maker after his transformation at the end of Season 2. The Vampire Lestat<\/em> trailer<\/a> released in April shows Armand saying to Daniel, \u201cHe\u2019s going to get us all killed\u201d (see below), so we know that Daniel and Armand see each other this season in some capacity. Fans are eager for answers about how and why Armand turned Daniel<\/a>, especially because his turning comes from a beloved chapter from Anne Rice<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0The Queen of the Damned<\/em> called \u201cThe Story of Daniel, the Devil\u2019s Minion, or the Boy from Interview with the Vampire.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n AMC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Bogosian can tease nothing about his first scene with Zaman in Season 3. What he can say is, \u201cIt\u2019s pretty intense, one of the more intense scenes I\u2019ve ever filmed.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, he can always gush about his costars.<\/p>\n \u201cI have to say, working with all these guys in the show, but Assad especially, because I do a lot of stuff with him this season, they are so realistic on set, that you almost don\u2019t have to act,\u201d Bogosian raved. \u201cAnd this incredibly sweet guy, when he\u2019s not on-camera, turns into this really evil guy, and it\u2019s very easy to get upset with him, which I do. I get upset with all of them, but particularly [Armand and Lestat].\u201d<\/p>\n What about Daniel\u2019s relationship with Louis (Jacob Anderson<\/a>)? Their dynamic was one of the highlights of the first two seasons. Now, Louis is pissed that Daniel published the book about their time together. Bogosian said that Daniel is unfazed.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think Daniel worries too much [about Louis\u2019 opinion]. Daniel has a pretty outsized ego, and like a lot of people who have big egos, he thinks that everything he does is great,\u201d the Succession<\/a><\/em> alum explained. \u201cIn fact, he thinks he\u2019s better than all of these guys, and he doesn\u2019t care that they can kill him with a flick of their wrist, which is kind of interesting. But that\u2019s kind of me.\u201d<\/p>\n Bogosian returns in Season 3 with Reid, Anderson, Zaman, Delainey Hayles<\/a>, and more. He\u2019s delighted that Hayles is back, and that Jennifer Ehle<\/a> has joined the fold as Lestat\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have the most beautiful, wonderful [cast],\u201d Bogosian said. \u201cJen is just amazing as Gabriella. It\u2019s great to have Delainey back. Delainey is genius. You don\u2019t always get this, but we\u2019re a very happy family of actors, and I think there\u2019s two things that make that happen. One, it\u2019s an incredibly talented group of people\u2026Nobody\u2019s ever trying to get in front of anybody. Everybody\u2019s working\u2026We make space for each other. It\u2019s a very generous set, and I love that. And they\u2019re so deep into their roles, you get to really make believe. That\u2019s why I act. I want to make believe. We go right into it.
