Hayden Panettiere<\/strong><\/a> has broken her silence after her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel<\/strong>, called her \u201centitled\u201d ahead of the release of her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so false,\u201d Panettiere, 36, told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> of her mom\u2019s statement in an interview published on Monday, May 18. \u201cWhen people ask me about the relationship, if there\u2019s any hope for the future, I always say I leave that door cracked open in case.\u201d<\/p>\n The Heroes<\/em> alum continued, \u201cBecause who doesn\u2019t want a relationship with their mother? You pray for it and hope it eventually comes. But she slammed that door pretty hard in my face. She has very clearly prioritized herself, which I should not be shocked by.\u201d<\/p>\n Us<\/em> has reached out to Vogel\u2019s team for comment.<\/p>\n Last week, Vogel released a statement slamming Panettiere\u2019s upcoming book, saying that the allegations that their relationship is rocky were put out to \u201csell books.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a personality \u2018style\u2019 which manifests as a need for control, entitlement and a lack of empathy,\u201d Vogel told Page Six<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, May 14. \u201cThe major fear is that someone will see through the mask they present to the world and discover who they truthfully are.\u201d<\/p>\n Vogel, who previously managed Panettiere\u2019s career, claimed that \u201cthis condition cannot be \u2018fixed\u2019\u201d regardless of \u201ccontinual efforts to support\u201d or \u201ccomfort,\u201d alleging that there was \u201c20 years of trauma\u201d between them.<\/p>\n Vogel\u2019s remarks came nearly a week after Panettiere exclusively shared in her Us Weekly<\/em> cover story<\/a> that she is estranged from her mother.<\/p>\n
