For Mindy Kaling<\/strong><\/a>, having her weight loss be discussed on the internet is something she can understand.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s sometimes no fun when one of your favorite actors loses weight. You have an idea of what they were like when you grew attached to them, and it made them endear themselves to you,\u201d Kaling, 46, told Bustle<\/em><\/a> in a profile published on Tuesday, May 19. \u201cOf course, it\u2019s never a joy to be scrutinized, but also I truly understand it, as someone who consumes pop culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kaling, who has three children<\/a>, shared that her decision to lose weight stemmed from her realization that she needs to \u201clive at least 20 more years\u201d for her family. (The Mindy Project<\/em> actress is mom to Katherine \u201cKit,\u201d 8, Spencer, 5, and Anne, 2. She has never publicly disclosed the identity of the father of her children.)<\/p>\n

\u201cDo I wake up every day being like, \u2018I look amazing and I\u2019m so gorgeous\u2019? No, unsurprisingly, but I truly feel so healthy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMindy Kaling may have been open about her weight loss \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019s down for the public discourse about it. \u201cIt\u2019s not super exciting for me to talk about my body and how it\u2019s analyzed,\u201d Kaling, 44, told Allure in an interview published on Tuesday, July 18. While Kaling noted that she is considering shedding light on her weight loss via writing in the future, she\u2019s currently open to discussing the motivation behind her health journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was younger, I would want to lose weight because of vanity reasons,\u201d she explained. \u201cNow I want to lose weight or have lost weight because I want to stave off things like diabetes. I had it on both sides of my family, and trying to avoid those kinds of things will, I think, help longevity for me, and that\u2019s my goal.\u201d<\/p>\n
