Under Queen Camilla’s “sweet smile” is a “secret steely nature,” one that aids her in her role as protector of her husband, King Charles, a royal biographer said.<\/p>\n
The 78-year-old Queen and the British monarch, 77, have been locked in a less-than-conventional love affair with one another practically from the moment of their first meeting at a polo match in 1970. Charles<\/a> and Camilla<\/a>‘s love didn’t diminish, even while they were married to separate people, and in 2005, they finally got to celebrate their relationship when they tied the knot.<\/p>\n The King and Queen’s romance<\/a> has only strengthened since their Coronation. Now, Christopher Wilson, author of A Greater Love\u2013Charles and Camilla, claims the Queen’s job, as she views it, is to “support and protect her man.”<\/p>\n Wilson told The Daily Mail<\/a> that Camilla has a “secret steely nature” behind her “sweet smile.”<\/p>\n He added, “She’s every bit as convincing as the old Queen Mother was when it comes to putting on a sweet smile and saying just the right thing to put people at their ease.”<\/p>\n Wilson explained, “But\u2014again like the Queen Mum\u2014there’s a ruthless streak to Camilla which she takes care to keep hidden from view. Monarchy is about survival, and Camilla understands that.<\/p>\n “She’s read the history books and knows how, when the House of Windsor was brought to its knees in 1936 with the abdication of King Edward VIII, [the Queen Mother] put fire in the belly of her reluctant husband [King George VI], turning him into a successful wartime monarch who did a great double act with Prime Minister Winston Churchill.”<\/p>\n Wilson added, “King George needed her ironclad courage, just as King Charles needs Camilla’s today.”<\/p>\n The author cited a former courtier when he told The Daily Mail, “If Charles has a weakness, it’s that he’s too kind and too forgiving when things go wrong\u2014just as his mother was. He\u2019s lucky to have Camilla there to stiffen his backbone when needed.”<\/p>\n
