Sheinelle Jones<\/a> returned to Today<\/a><\/em> after experiencing a health issue.<\/p>\n Carson Daly<\/a> filled in<\/a> for Jones on the Monday, May 18, episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle<\/em>, though the reason for her absence was not shared. Jenna Bush Hager<\/a> offered an explanation for Jones\u2019s break at the top of the show\u2019s Tuesday, May 19, episode, stating, \u201cSheinelle\u2019s injured.\u201d<\/p>\n Clarifying her injury, Jones told viewers, \u201cI\u2019ve self-diagnosed myself, so I don\u2019t know if this is the official diagnosis, but \u2018frozen shoulder.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The condition is something Bush Hager said she\u2019s experienced before, but not to the same extent as Jones. \u201cI don\u2019t think mine is as bad as yours, because mine just felt irritated, but I could move it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Jones told viewers that she began experiencing shoulder pain yesterday, and it was \u201cexcruciating\u201d by the time she went to bed. \u201cI don\u2019t take a lot of medicine, so for me to take an Advil, it\u2019s \u2018cause I\u2019m really hurting,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n Jones went on to demonstrate how she could not lift her right arm above her chest without feeling pain. \u201cPutting this dress on today, Sarah had to help me upstairs, our friend in the wardrobe department,\u201d she stated. \u201cI stood still. I mean, it was a whole situation to put this dress on today.\u201d<\/p>\n NBC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n According to Bush Hager, having \u201cfrozen shoulder\u201d is a sign of perimenopause. \u201cI didn\u2019t know why we have so many perimenopausal signs,\u201d she said to Jones. \u201cI once was like, \u2018My shoulder\u2019s been bothering me.\u2019 And they were like, \u2018You know what that is, right?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Weight-lifting?\u2019 And they were like, \u2018No.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018What?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Per the Mayo Clinic<\/a>, \u201cPerimenopause is the time before menopause when your body is getting ready to stop having periods. Perimenopause is sometimes called the menopausal transition.\u201d<\/p>\n While perimenopause is likely the reason behind Jones\u2019 shoulder pain, Bush Hager joked that it also could have been caused by Jones\u2019 performance<\/a> with Zara Larsson on Today<\/em>. Jones joined the pop star on stage during her May 8 Today<\/em> concert to do the viral \u201cLush Life\u201d dance.<\/p>\n \u201cDid I whip my arm out of socket?\u201d Jones questioned, while Bush Hager quipped, \u201cI think she broke her shoe, and you broke your shoulder. It\u2019s just, we\u2019re old.\u201d (Larsson broke her heel before breaking into the dance with Jones.)<\/p>\n Jones noted that her shoulder pain marks the \u201cthird time in six years\u201d it has happened, the last being right before she got to dance<\/a> on stage with Janet Jackson<\/a> during one of her concerts in 2023. \u201cI ended up getting a cortisone shot back there so I could dance,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n
