You can hear all her discoveries live on 88Nine at 10 p.m. every Monday on <\/i>What\u2019s All This: Adventures in New Music<\/u><\/b><\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n \u201cThe Payoff\u201d is a new Sub Pop single from Josh Tillman (aka Father John Misty) that follows \u201cThe Old Law,\u201d released earlier this year. The song dwells on a dark cloud of hopelessness over a persistent harpsichord-forward march, and feels a little dark and feverish while reminding me quite a bit of MONO\u2019s classic hit single, \u201cLife in Mono.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe Payoff\u201d was co-produced with Drew Erickson, who Tillman worked with on his last two Father John Misty albums. There\u2019s no official word whether this is a single from a forthcoming full release or just a standalone track. What we do know is that Father John Misty is on tour this summer, with a stop at Milwaukee\u2019s Summerfest on June 19.<\/p>\nBest new indie music this week<\/h2>\n
