Kylie Minogue<\/strong><\/a> revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer for a second time nearly two decades after her first battle with the disease.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy second cancer diagnosis was in early 2021,\u201d the pop star, 57, says in her new three-part documentary, Kylie<\/em>, which premieres on Netflix on Wednesday, May 20, according to The Guardian<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI was able to keep that to myself \u2026 Not like the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minogue went through a public battle with early-stage breast cancer in 2005. Following the diagnosis, the singer postponed her tour and delayed chemotherapy to undergo IVF treatments. She was declared cancer-free in 2006.<\/p>\n

After being diagnosed a second time, Minogue decided to keep her battle private. In the doc, she confesses that she struggled \u201cto find the right time\u201d to reveal the news as she found a resurgence<\/a> in her career with the song \u201cPadam Padam.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMany celebrities have spoken out about their personal battles with breast cancer over the years. Julia Louis-Dreyfus went public with her breast cancer diagnosis in September 2017 via Instagram. Nearly one year later, she had successfully beaten the illness and returned to work on Veep. \u201cIt sounds kind of corny, but there\u2019s something about after [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t feel obliged to tell the world, and actually, I just couldn\u2019t at the time because I was just a shell of a person,\u201d she tells cameras. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to leave the house again at one point. \u2018Padam Padam\u2019 opened so many doors for me but on the inside I knew that cancer wasn\u2019t just a blip in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minogue says that she got her second cancer diagnosis following a routine check-up and has since made a recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be someone out there who will benefit from a gentle reminder to do their check-ups,\u201d she shares. \u201cEarly detection was very helpful and I am so grateful to be able to say that I am well today.\u201d<\/p>\n

She adds that her love for music helped her during that difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho knows what\u2019s around the corner, but pop music nurtures me,\u201d she says, noting, \u201cMy passion for music is greater than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minogue\u2019s private battle inspired her song \u201cStory\u201d which was released on her 2023 album Tension.<\/p>\n

\u201cI needed to have something that marked that time,\u201d she shares of the track in the doc.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Minogue opened up about how her first cancer battle remained with her all these years later.<\/p>\n
