We are getting ever closer to the release of Mary In The Junkyard’s debut album. Role Model Hermit<\/em> has already given us “Crash Landing<\/a>” and “Candelabra<\/a>,” and now the London upstarts have added a fabulous third single called “New Muscles.” <\/p>\n There’s so much happening in this nifty little song: that clattering auxiliary percussion; those eerie\/charming wordless superhero-theme-song vocals; the elegant cello that gives way to propulsive bass; the half-rapped lyrics boasting about “new muscles all over my back.” It’s somehow whispery and minimal yet huge and direct. <\/p>\n And with director Luke Grieve’s video, it’s even better. Bandmates Clari Freeman-Taylor and Saya Barbaglia learned Muay Thai for the shoot, and they claim the fight in the video is real. Check it out below.<\/p>\n
