\u201cLate Show\u201d host Stephen Colbert<\/a> on Tuesday night said the $1.8 billion \u201cAnti-Weaponization Fund\u201d<\/a> the Justice Department set up on President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s behalf isn\u2019t as bad as it appears.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The fund, created as part of a settlement<\/a> of Trump\u2019s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS, is supposed to be used to pay alleged victims of \u201cweaponization and lawfare,\u201d potentially including Jan. 6 rioters. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThat means people who stormed the Capitol, rubbed their poop on the walls, assaulted police officers and tried to hang Vice President Mike Pence<\/a> could be getting this cash,\u201d the late-night host said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Then, Colbert made a prediction for what would really happen. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBut they won\u2019t,\u201d he said. \u201d\u2019Cause Trump\u2019s going to steal it all.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Colbert pointed to specific language in the agreement<\/a> that states \u201conce the funds are deposited into the Designated Account, the United States has no liability whatsoever for the protection or safeguarding of those funds, regardless of bank failure, fraudulent transfers, or any other fraud or misuse of the funds.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Colbert called it an \u201call-you-can-fraud buffet\u201d and \u201can unprecedented level of grift.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cFunds of this scale typically are either created by an act of Congress or supervised by a court,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd this settlement is just some piece of paper they printed out saying that Trump can do anything he wants with a bunch of your money.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
