President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a> is throwing his support behind Spencer Pratt<\/strong><\/a> in the Los Angeles mayoral race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to see him do well. He\u2019s a character,\u201d Trump, 79, told reporters on Wednesday, May 20, per a video shared via social media<\/a>. \u201cI assume he probably supports me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump asked a person off-camera whether they knew if Pratt supported him, and they replied that they \u201cthink so.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard he does,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cI heard he\u2019s a big MAGA person. He\u2019s doing well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exactly one year after a wildfire burned down his family\u2019s home in Pacific Palisades, California, Pratt announced that he was running for mayor of Los Angeles. \u201cThe system in Los Angeles isn\u2019t struggling; it\u2019s fundamentally broken,\u201d Pratt said at the \u201cThey Let Us [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pratt, who is a registered Republican, is running to be the mayor of Los Angeles against incumbent Karen Bass<\/strong>, city council member Nithya Raman<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

Following Trump\u2019s apparent endorsement of Pratt, Raman, 44, reshared the clip<\/a> online and highlighted the quote \u201cI heard he\u2019s a big MAGA person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt responded<\/a> to Raman\u2019s post with a GIF of himself rolling his eyes.<\/p>\n

The Hills<\/em> alum announced his candidacy for mayor in January. Pratt exclusively revealed in his Us Weekly<\/em> cover story<\/a> that he was inspired to take action after he and wife Heidi Montag<\/strong> lost their home in the Palisades Fire last year. (The couple share sons Gunnar, 8, and Ryker, 3.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only way I see God letting my parents\u2019 house burn down and my house burn down is that God knows it\u2019s the only way to turn me against a system that lets this happen to tens of thousands of people,\u201d he told Us<\/em> in January. \u201cIn a best-case scenario, I would have helped at least 10,000 people to get 70 percent of what they got taken from them. That would be poetic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt continued, \u201cWinning the mayor\u2019s race will be a victory for truth and transparency, which is what I\u2019ve been fighting for this whole year. The end goal is the same: to shine a light into the darkness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Pratt declared that if he loses the election, he plans on leaving<\/a> the City of Angels for good.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to win the lawsuit against Gavin Newsom<\/strong>\u2019s state park, and with that money, if I\u2019m the mayor of Los Angeles, I will rebuild,\u201d Pratt told comedian Adam Carolla<\/strong> in a video shared via social media on Saturday, May 16. \u201cIf Karen Bass gets reelected or Nithya gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in L.A.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt and several other property owners filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) for the aftermath of the fire. The lawsuit remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
