Jessica Simpson<\/strong><\/a> set the record straight on seating her kids in coach while she enjoyed a first class flight to Hawaii.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom bought those tickets,\u201d Simpson, 45, told photographers on Wednesday, May 20, per Page Six<\/em><\/a>, noting she didn\u2019t choose the seating arrangement. \u201cIt was my mom\u2019s treat for us to go to Hawaii.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paparazzi then asked the singer if she would have sat with her kids \u2014 Maxwell, 14, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 7, whom she shares with estranged husband Eric Johnson<\/strong> \u2014 if she bought the tickets herself. \u201cOf course!\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n

Simpson\u2019s revelation comes after her ex-husband<\/a>, Nick Lachey<\/strong>, shared that he ran into her on the flight during an episode of Watch What Happens Live<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe her kids and her \u2014 I\u2019m not familiar with where they stand, but \u2014 her husband, maybe, were on the plane but not with us,\u201d Lachey, 52, said, noting that her mom, Tina Ann Drew<\/strong>, was also on the flight.<\/p>\n

Host Andy Cohen then asked if all her children were on the flight, but in \u201cin a separate class of service,\u201d to which Lachey confirmed.<\/p>\n

As for their first run-in in 20 years, Lachey said it was \u201cstrangely OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, it\u2019s been 20 years, and so we hadn\u2019t seen each other in those 20 years and then spent six and a half hours on a flight to Hawaii together,\u201d he recalled. \u201cWhen I say \u2018spent,\u2019 [I mean] in the same vicinity. Everyone was very cordial, very respectful.\u201d Lachey added, \u201cIt was honestly \u2026 it was fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lachey, for his part, was flying with his wife, Vanessa Lachey<\/strong>, and their three kids: Camden, 13, Brooklyn, 11, and Phoenix, 9.<\/p>\n
