Mandy Moore<\/strong><\/a> is recalling the moment her husband, Taylor Goldsmith<\/strong><\/a>, asked for her dad\u2019s hand in marriage \u2014 which is allegedly something her first husband, Ryan Adams<\/strong><\/a>, didn\u2019t do.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was touched,\u201d Moore, 42, recalled on the Tuesday, May 19, episode of the \u201cThat Was Us\u201d<\/a> podcast of her dad\u2019s reaction. \u201cI had been betrothed before, but that person did not ask my father. So I think my dad was very touched that it was done in the traditional way. My dad appreciates that.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cBut I believe he also is super awkward. He was like, \u2018Oh gosh, you don\u2019t have to ask for my permission.\u2019 As Taylor recounted it to me.\u201d<\/p>\n Moore and Adams began dating in 2007 and tied the knot two years later. After nearly six years of marriage, the pair called it quits in 2015. Moore and Adams\u2019 divorce was finalized in 2016.<\/p>\n Two years later, Moore began speaking out about her relationship with her ex-husband. In 2019, the New York Times published a profile in which seven women \u2014 including Moore \u2014 came forward to share misconduct allegations against Adams.<\/p>\n \u201cMusic was a point of control for him<\/a>,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cHe would always tell me, \u2018You\u2019re not a real musician because you don\u2019t play an instrument.\u2019 \u2026 His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time \u2014 my entire mid-to-late 20s.\u201d<\/p>\n He denied the accusations. In 2020, Adams publicly apologized for his behavior<\/a>. \u201cThere are no words to express how bad I feel about the ways I\u2019ve mistreated people throughout my life and career,\u201d he told the Daily Mail<\/em> at the time. \u201cAll I can say is that I\u2019m sorry. It\u2019s that simple.\u201d<\/p>\n
