Akademiks<\/a> is opening up about what it was like to go meet Drake<\/a> for the first time.<\/p>\n In a conversation with Adin Ross<\/a> after the release of Iceman, Habibti<\/a><\/em>, and Maid of Honour<\/em>,<\/a> Akademiks explained the process of meeting Drake ahead of the album\u2019s release. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI sent my passport and my whole team\u2019s passports to him,\u201d Akademiks began. \u201cHe orchestrated everything with the jet, and I was kind of shocked.\u201d<\/p>\n Akademiks continued, claiming that Drake checked on him throughout the process personally to make sure he was fine. When he got to Toronto, he discovered the power that Drake holds in his hometown.<\/p>\n \u201cWe fly to Toronto, I never talked to customs. We literally just walked off the plane and got into a car,\u201d Akademiks claimed, before revealing what Drake allegedly told him to say if he was stopped and asked to share his passport.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2018If they ask you anything, just tell them you\u2019re here to meet with The Boy,\u2019\u201d said Akademiks, doing his best Drake impression.<\/p>\n Akademiks has posted proof of his linkup with Drake, in the form of a new OVO chain \u2014 presumably given to Ak by Drizzy for his longstanding support. Akademiks also appeared in a livestream ahead of the release of Drake\u2019s three new albums, in which he named the rapper as his favorite lyricist.<\/p>\n Days before Iceman, Habibti, <\/em>and Maid of Honour <\/em>came out, Akademiks compared him and Drizzy to \u201cShaq and Kobe\u201d when talking about their skillsets. After he was named to the top of Complex\u2019s Hip-Hop Media Power rankings, Akademiks claimed that Drake congratulated him for the achievement.<\/p>\n Another thing that seems to prove their close relationship is Akademiks\u2019 claim that he persuaded<\/a> Drake to push back the release of Iceman.<\/em><\/p>\n Last month, Akademiks took to social media to mock music critic Anthony Fantano, who claimed that Iceman <\/em>would be dropping within the next 36 hours, per info he received from what he said was an \u201cexclusive source.\u201d When that didn\u2019t happen, Akademiks claimed Fantano was fed false information \u2014 then informed Drizzy\u2019s fanbase to sit tight and wait.<\/p>\n \u201cI TOLD DRAKE DELAY ICEMAN A LIL MORE CUZ HIS HATERS BECOMING DELUSIONAL!\u201d Akademiks wrote. \u201cDRAKE DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!!
