For the second time this month, the Red Sox swept an AL Central opponent on the road. Two weeks after brooming the Detroit Tigers<\/a> in Motown, Boston did the same to the Kansas City Royals<\/a> in KC.<\/p>\n

As expected, the Red Sox did it with their elite pitching and defense<\/a>, holding the Royals to just five runs in the three games. Their bats also came alive with 35 hits, including several big ones by Jarren Duran<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Duran had a huge series for Boston<\/a>, driving in six of the team’s\u00a014 runs and putting his slow start behind him. After putting Tuesday’s game away with his three-run homer<\/a> in the ninth inning, he delivered another clutch blow in Wednesday’s series finale with a go-ahead two-run shot in the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n

The\u00a04-3 lead was enough for the Red Sox’s dominant bullpen<\/a>, which didn’t allow any runs in 10\u00a01\/3 innings against Kansas City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After winning four of its last five games, Boston is 22-27 heading into Thursday’s off day. The surging Red Sox will look to extend their winning streak on Friday against the Minnesota Twins<\/a>, who are half a game ahead of them in the wild card race at 23-27.<\/p>\n
