Bruce Willis<\/a> is doing \u201cOK in the context of what his reality<\/a> is,\u201d his daughter Rumer Willis<\/a> revealed in a new interview. Rumer opened up about her father\u2019s frontotemporal dementia<\/a> (FTD) diagnosis on The Inside Edit<\/em><\/a> podcast, and revealed how his personality has changed in recent years.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will never be the same as it was having a dad and how it is with my mother, [but] I love getting to go over and see him,\u201d Rumer shared. \u201cI\u2019m so grateful I have a child that got to meet him. I don\u2019t know if my sisters will have that. I\u2019m just so grateful for all the things I do get. I\u2019m so grateful I get to go see him.\u201d<\/p>\n Rumer pointed out that her time with her famous father may be \u201cdifferent now,\u201d but, at the end of the day, she\u2019s \u201cgrateful\u201d to still have time to spend with him. \u201cThere\u2019s a sweetness [in him],\u201d she revealed. \u201cHe\u2019s always been this kind of macho dude, and now there\u2019s just such a \u2026 fragile\u2019s not the right word, but just a tenderness that maybe being Bruce Willis may have not allowed him in some way.\u201d<\/p>\n She praised her family for \u201crallying together\u201d to support Bruce and each other since he was first diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 (the more specific FTD diagnosis was revealed in 2023). The blended family<\/a> includes Rumer, her two sisters, and their mom, Bruce\u2019s ex-wife, Demi Moore<\/a>, as well as the actor\u2019s current wife Emma Heming Willis<\/a> and their two children.<\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t do it perfectly, but we\u2019re always striving to continue to create connection and find ways to be with each other and support each other through something that is kind of unprecedented,\u201d Rumer admitted. \u201cIt\u2019s wild to me that so many people come up to me and say, \u2018My uncle had FTD. My dad had [it],\u2019 and I had no idea how prevalent it was. It\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n Rumer revealed that she took a test for Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia recently. \u201cI\u2019m OK, I think,\u201d she said. \u201cI think they can test for Alzheimer\u2019s and dementia, and I can\u2019t remember exactly which one I have, but it\u2019s like, \u2018OK, there\u2019s an average chance you can get it,\u2019 so I just think I try to be really conscious of what I eat, what products I use on my face, sunscreen\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n Bruce retired from acting after receiving his diagnosis in 2022. He is currently receiving full-time care while living in a specialized home<\/a> down the street from his wife and daughters.<\/p>\n
