Jeff Bezos<\/strong><\/a> was not responsible for Amazon\u2019s decision to acquire Melania Trump<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s eponymous documentary, but he\u2019s definitely on board.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Melania thing is a falsehood that will not die,\u201d Bezos, 62, said on CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Pod\u201d<\/a> on Wednesday, May 20. \u201cI see reported all the time that somehow I was involved in this.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI had nothing to do with that. By the way, it appears it was a good business decision. It did very well in theaters. It\u2019s done very well on streaming.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was previously alleged that Amazon spent $75 million to license and promote the Melania documentary, released earlier this year, as a favor to President Donald Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though I had nothing to do with it, it appears that the Amazon team made a very wise business decision,\u201d he added. \u201cAmazon\u2019s a big company. It makes a lot of decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bezos continued, \u201cThis idea that somehow that is a way of buying influence is just not correct. I can see why people say this.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAmazon is pulling back the curtain on the life of first lady Melania Trump in the new documentary Melania. The film specifically highlights the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration in which her husband, President Donald Trump, was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. \u201cHistory is set in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It was initially reported that Melania, 56, pitched Bezos during a 2024 dinner hosted by President Trump, 79, at his Mar-a-Lago resort.<\/p>\n

Melania producer and her senior advisor Marc Beckman<\/strong> previously denied reports of Bezos\u2019 involvement as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cBezos wasn\u2019t involved in the contract negotiations at all, ever,\u201d Beckman told Page Six<\/a> in a January statement. \u201cHe never had a conversation with me about anything surrounding the film \u2014 ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beckman clarified \u201cwhat actually happened\u201d regarding Bezos.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only interaction during that family meal between Melania and Jeff \u2014 with regards to the film \u2014 was that when Melania commented to Jeff that I was in talks with Amazon\u2019s executive leadership, Bezos had no idea about the film or the contract negotiation,\u201d he explained. \u201cHe wasn\u2019t aware that I was already in talks with his team, and didn\u2019t know about the film itself. It was a friendly meal with family members present, and definitely not a setting for a contract negotiation.\u201d<\/p>\n
