Hunter Biden<\/strong>, the son of former President Joe Biden<\/strong>,<\/a> is reflecting on his crack cocaine addiction in a podcast interview with Candace Owens.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done horrible things in my addiction in terms of what I did in terms of my relationships and decisions that I made,\u201d Hunter, 56, told Owens, 37, in an interview uploaded via YouTube<\/a> on Thursday, May 21. \u201cMore than anything is just removing myself from being present for the people that love me. What happened to me and I really mean this that the exposure, not peace meal, but the total exposure, my digital footprint stolen from me \u2026 every text message, every picture, all of the things you\u2019d be ashamed of became front page news.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former president\u2019s son continued, \u201cIt forced me into a choice and the choice was do I get out of bed and live or do I die? And it became that much of a dichotomy. And I chose to live. It wasn\u2019t easy and maintaining sobriety in that kind of pressure cooker is often the thing that triggers you. But something broke me in a good way, which was, I no longer have any fear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hunter added that he has a \u201ccommunity of people\u201d that he genuinely wants to \u201cbe of service to\u201d now that he is on the path of sobriety.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPresident Joe Biden revealed he contemplated suicide after his first wife, Neilia Biden, and their infant daughter died in a car crash. During a surprise interview with Howard Stern on Friday, April 26, Joe, 81, recalled how his mental health declined significantly after the tragic incident. \u201cYou don\u2019t have to be crazy to commit suicide. [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Owens asked Hunter if the cocaine previously found at the White House in 2023 during his dad\u2019s time in office was his, which he denied.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter six years of this, I\u2019ve been sober since June 1st of 2019 \u2013 clean and sober\u2026. Verifiably so, by the Bureau of Probation, which I was drug tested for two years,\u201d he said on Thursday. \u201cBeyond that, I wasn\u2019t even [at the White House] where that cocaine was found, you know the visitor\u2019s entrance, [that\u2019s where it was found].\u201d<\/p>\n

After Hunter spoke about his addiction struggles, Owens opened up about how members of her family have gone through similar situations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany men would write and say they are suffering with various things but they don\u2019t speak about how they are quietly suffering,\u201d she reflected. \u201cI don\u2019t think there are enough conversations about it \u2026 There needs to be more dialogue about it. I grew up with tons of addicts in my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Owens added that her personal connection to those who have suffered from addiction may have played a factor in her past critiques of Hunter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a natural anger people have when they for some reason believe,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd I think this was some of the anger I had with you \u2026 you think when someone has money and connections, you think it removes them from the various [addictions in life] \u2026 You see someone from a life of privilege and you see [addiction] can happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hunter added that the public scrutiny he faced in the aftermath of his struggles made him stronger.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey tore off all my clothes, tarred and feathered me, and put me in the center of town, and said look at him,\u201d he said. \u201cI survived.\u201d<\/p>\n

Owens apologized to Hunter for her participation in the public outcry against him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry I contributed to that,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel s***ty\u2026 I genuinely am so sorry that I didn\u2019t even consider, \u2018He\u2019s a crackhead.\u2019 That\u2019s a very relatable thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two days before the interview, Hunter made headlines when he created an X account. \u201cI\u2019m Hunter Biden,\u201d he wrote in a Tuesday, May 19, post. \u201cYou\u2019ve never actually heard from me.\u201d<\/p>\n

His debut on the social media platform came one day after Owens shared a teaser for her interview with Hunter that included a clip of Joe, 83, announcing that he would not pardon his son. (In 2024, Hunter received a presidential pardon from Joe after being convicted of federal gun possession and tax evasion charges.)<\/p>\n

\u201cHunter Biden, welcome to the Candace Owens Show,\u201d Owens said in the trailer, while Hunter replied, \u201cI\u2019ve heard you call me a crack head many times. And the truth of the matter is, I was a crack head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Hunter recalled how his marriage \u201cfell apart.\u201d (Hunter was married to Kathleen Buhle<\/strong> from 1993 to 2017. The pair welcomed three children together. Hunter went on to have children with stripper<\/a> Lunden Roberts<\/strong> and filmmaker Melissa Cohen<\/strong>, whom he tied the knot with in 2019.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just started a really, really dark cycle. My brother called me and said, \u2018This has got to stop.\u2019 It forced me into a choice. The choice was: Do I get out of bed and live, or do I die?\u201d<\/p>\n

At the end of the clip, Hunter referenced a quote from The Acts of John. \u201c\u2018You must learn to suffer as I do, in order to be able not to suffer.\u2019 And that is the greatest lesson of everything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
