Evidently, that album caught the ears of Secretly Canadian, who are releasing Patterson&#8217;s newly announced follow-up EP <em>Songs From A Valley Girl<\/em>. Its lead single &#8220;Just My Friend&#8221; is out today, a vivid, upbeat piano song about not being sure if someone wants to keep your relationship platonic or something more. I don&#8217;t say this lightly, but it reminds me a bit of Fiona Apple in its ferocity.
