\u201cLate Show\u201d host Stephen Colbert<\/a> ended his long-running series on Thursday with something unusual: He never mentioned President Donald Trump<\/a> by name. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In fact, he only made one subtle reference about the president. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The moment came during his interview with Paul McCartney<\/a>, who reminisced about performing in the same theater in 1964 for the Beatles\u2019 iconic first performance on \u201cThe Ed Sullivan Show.\u201d McCartney noted one difference from the band\u2019s appearances on British TV. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d gotten used to a little bit of makeup in England,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we went down there, and the girls put makeup on us, and it was like bright orange.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Colbert didn\u2019t miss the moment. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s very popular in certain circles these days,\u201d he cracked. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe set a trend,\u201d McCartney said. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
