The Royals had one of their Major League video assistants suit up this week for a game against the Red Sox<\/a>, but there was never a chance he would pitch, hit or even coach.<\/p>\n

Drew Epperson is part of the Royals\u2019 Major League Support Staff, so it was a surprise to have him put on the team\u2019s uniform.<\/p>\n

But the surprise was not for Epperson or anyone on the Royals.<\/p>\n

Epperson\u2019s father is Red Sox third base coach Chad Epperson, and he was touched to see his son on the field. They met at home plate ahead of Tuesday\u2019s game as they exchanged lineup cards.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really wasn\u2019t on the bingo card<\/a> a couple weeks ago. It\u2019s surreal,\u201d Drew Epperson told The Boston Globe, per Mass Live. \u201cGrowing up, I went to the field with him all the time. Never in a million years did I imagine this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Red Sox television crew caught the touching moment at Kauffman Stadium.<\/p>\n
