Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> has dropped new single \u2018The Cure\u2019, which she describes as her \u201cfavourite\u201d track from upcoming album, \u2018You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love<\/a>\u2019. Check it out below.<\/p>\n The new record is the follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2021 debut album \u2018Sour\u2019<\/a> and the highly-praised 2023 follow-up, \u2018Guts\u2019<\/a>. It is set for release June 12, and already Rodrigo has described it as \u201cexperimental\u201d and full of \u201csad love songs\u201d<\/a>, and also dropped the lead single \u2018Drop Dead\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, after teasing a new single on social media earlier this week, the \u2018Deja Vu\u2019 singer has released another preview of the LP in the form of heartfelt track \u2018The Cure\u2019.<\/p>\n Centred around a melancholic acoustic guitar melody, the single tackles themes of doubt, loss of trust and putting your faith into the wrong person. \u201cAll the nights I spend fighting bad thoughts in my room\/ Feeling so alone, might as well be on the moon\/ I thought I found the antidote with you<\/em>,\u201d she sings in the lovelorn verse.<\/p>\n Gradually, the song builds up to the anguish-ridden chorus: \u201cBut my head is full of poison\/ And my heart is full of doubt\/ I got toxins in my bloodstream\/ You tried hard to suck them out\/ And it feels like medication\/ And it\u2019s good for me I\u2019m sure\/ But it don\u2019t matter how your love feels anymore\/ It\u2019ll never be the cure<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Teasing the track on social media, Rodrigo revealed that she considers the single to be her \u201cfavourite on the album\u201d and \u201cone of my favourite songs I\u2019ve ever made\u201d.
