After a long run on \u201cWho\u2019s the Boss?,\u201d Light landed roles on \u201cLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit,\u201d \u201cUgly Betty\u201d and \u201cDallas\u201d before joining \u201cTransparent,\u201d a dramedy that brought numerous Emmy nominations, and two Broadway shows that netted her a pair of Tonys.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cPeople feel strongly that I have integrity,\u201d Light says. \u201cAnd that matters to (audiences). They know that I would speak the truth about stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A string of productions kept her extremely busy in recent years, including an Emmy-winning for a 2024 role on \u201cPoker Face.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOur industry has finally caught up with the fact that mature women have a lot to talk about,\u201d the 77-year-old says. \u201cAnd a lot of people are writing those kinds of characters. Look at Kathy Bates and Jamie Lee Curtis\u00a0\u2014 they have stories to tell. I\u2019m proud to be a part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For \u201cThe Terror,\u201d Light had to shoot in a decommissioned New York prison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was pretty creepy \u2026 but it was also like a prison,\u201d Light says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

That added to the authenticity and helped the cast address the things that make viewers scared, she says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like the scaredy thing that happens to you when you go on a roller coaster and your heart is in your throat,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt makes us feel alive or connected. This is not just creepy. This is psychologically thrilling, this show.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe Terror\u201d isn\u2019t another \u201cOne Flew Over the Cuckoo\u2019s Nest,\u201d Light says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt is about patients in a mental facility, but this is not about who can stand up for themselves. There\u2019s no Nurse Ratched,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
