Police investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are looking into
\nan alleged incident at Royal Ascot.<\/p>\n
Officers are looking into claims that the former prince behaved
\nin an inappropriate manner towards a woman at Ascot in 2002.<\/p>\n
That year was the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and
\nAndrew attended the races with his mother and other members of the
\nRoyal Family.<\/p>\n
It isn\u2019t clear whether the alleged incident was reported at the
\ntime or more recently.<\/p>\n
The news, reported in The Sunday Times, comes as officers
\ninvestigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for alleged misconduct in
\npublic office, issued a reminder that the offence is aa wide open
\nand can include behaviour towards others. The force said
\n\u201dmisconduct in public office is a crime that can take different
\nforms, making this a complex investigation.<\/p>\n
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has made no comment on the latest
\nreports.<\/p>\n
He was arrested in February 2026 and held for 11 hours by
\nofficers looking into allegations of misconduct in public office.
\nHe was released under investigation and without charge. His new
\nhome on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk and his former residence
\nat Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate were searched by police at the
\nsame time. The inquiries focus on Andrew\u2019s time as a special envoy
\nfor trade and investment, a role he held for a decade from 2001 to
\n2011. Papers released last week show that his mother, Queen
\nElizabeth II, let it be known she was \u201dkeen\u201d for Andrew to be given
\nsuch a role.<\/p>\n
Scrutiny over Andrew has increased since the release of the
\nEpstein files, the papers linked to the convicted sex offender
\nJeffrey Epstein, which were made public earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019s relationship with the financier,
\nwho died by suicide in 2019, and a disastrous Panorama interview
\nabout their friendship led to the former prince stopping all public
\nengagements and roles. In 2025, King Charles stripped his brother
\nof his royal titles by issuing Letters Patent removing his HRH and
\nPrince. The King also asked the Lord Chancellor to remove the title
\nof Duke of York, held by Andrew since 1986, from the Roll of
\nPeerage.<\/p>\n
Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne and can be called on
\nto act as a Counsellor of State, a temporary role whereby other
\nroyals exercise some of the powers of the Monarch when they are
\nunable to through short term illness or absence from the
\ncountry.<\/p>\n
The alleged incident at Ascot is being investigated by Thames
\nValley Police as the racecourse comes under their patch.<\/p>\n
