\n From a screening of Aardman\u2019s the Wrong Trousers \u2013 with live orchestra \u2013 to a special commission featuring 100 local school children, festival organisers are celebrating the power of music to bring generations together, with events designed to entertain, inspire and connect the local community.\n<\/p>\n
\n \n The Festival, which takes place from June 25-July 4, also features affordable workshops and performances designed specifically for families and schools. Highlights include:\n<\/p>\n \n \u2022 Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and other much-loved Aardman characters \u2013 will be appearing in a fantastic family concert at St Peter\u2019s Church on Friday, July 3. The event features a lively introduction to the instruments of the orchestra, music inspired by Aardman favourites, and a full screening of the much-loved film The Wrong Trousers with a live orchestra.\n<\/p>\n \n \u2022 The children\u2019s cantata has been commissioned from the Festival\u2019s patron Bob Chilcott, in collaboration with Devon Music Hub. With an environmental theme, Don\u2019t Go Extinct! will showcase a massed children\u2019s choir, conducted by the composer himself. The performance takes place on Friday, June 26 and will feature over 100 children from local schools joining forces with professional jazz musicians. Participating schools include: St Peter\u2019s Budleigh Salterton; Otterton Primary School; Drake\u2019s Primary School, East Budleigh; Brixington Primary Academy Exmouth and Exmouth Community College.\n<\/p>\n \n \u2022 A variety of interactive creative musical workshops for people of all ages, run by Duo Tutti and Sound of the Streets Band, take place on Saturday, June 27 in the town\u2019s Public Hall and Temple Church. Duo Tutti combine professional musical performance in piano and flute and Sound of the Streets are a colourful 4-piece funky brass band of virtuosic professional musicians.\n<\/p>\n \n \n Kate Somerby, chair of Budleigh Music Festival, said: \u201cWe\u2019re passionate about making the Festival a place where everyone feels welcome, and this year\u2019s family programme is a really important part of that. From much-loved characters on screen to the excitement of live performance, these events are designed to spark curiosity, inspire young people and bring families together through music.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n Tickets are selling quickly for other concerts, which include a performance of Holst\u2019s The Planets by the Crescent Collective, multi-award winning guitarist Sean Shibe and a special Wolf Hall concert honouring one of Budleigh\u2019s most cherished residents, Dame Hilary Mantel.
