EXCLUSIVE: Celebrity stylist Natasha reveals how Disha Patani\u2019s O\u2019Romeo look was designed to \u201cDance with her\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking about Disha Patani\u2019s look in the film\u2019s song sequence, the stylist revealed that the team consciously avoided overly polished glamour in order to stay true to the character\u2019s world and the film\u2019s 90s-inspired setting. \u201cThe thing is, also, she\u2019s not supposed to be\u2026 this was also set in the 90s and things like that, so we didn\u2019t\u2026 There was supposed to be some amount of glam, but it was not supposed to be like blow dried,\u201d the stylist shared.<\/p>\n Instead of creating a hairstyle that stood apart visually, the approach focused on making the hair feel organic to the character and choreography. \u201cIt was supposed to be a lot more like item number type dance,\u201d the stylist explained, adding that loose waves were intentionally chosen because \u201cit would have danced along with her.\u201d The stylist further emphasized that hair in cinema should never overpower the performer or distract from the character\u2019s emotional presence. \u201cIt needed to flow with her, rather than being an entity of its own,\u201d they said. \u201cEverything needs to be a part of her.\u201d<\/p>\n That philosophy, according to the stylist, plays a major role while designing looks for films. Unlike editorials or red-carpet appearances, cinematic styling requires understanding the script, costumes, character arcs, and the director\u2019s larger vision before arriving at the final look. \u201cWhen you\u2019re doing films, it\u2019s such a tiny part of such a large project,\u201d the stylist explained. \u201cYou\u2019re just assisting, or you\u2019re a part of something big for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n Reflecting on the larger evolution of Bollywood beauty aesthetics, the stylist noted that changing camera technology has significantly influenced makeup and hairstyling trends over the years. With ultra-HD visuals capturing every detail onscreen, beauty in cinema has gradually moved toward realism and cleaner aesthetics. \u201cEverything is too real now,\u201d the stylist observed. \u201cYou are literally touching them on screen.\u201d<\/p>\n At the same time, they acknowledged that commercial cinema still leaves room for heightened glamour and stylized beauty moments. \u201cYou do have those moments, and you\u2019re like, \u2018It\u2019s okay, cry, but you know, just the mascara should run,\u2019\u201d they joked.<\/p>\n The stylist also pointed out how contemporary films, especially stories rooted in rural India or hyper-realistic settings, demand a far more restrained approach to beauty than traditional Bollywood spectacles once did.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like currently, if things are being made contemporary, everything\u2019s a lot more cleaner,\u201d they explained, adding that styling today is increasingly becoming \u201ctrue to character.\u201d<\/p>\n Discussing the difference between films and fashion editorials, the stylist said that movies require extensive preparation and collaborative planning with costume designers, directors, and actors long before cameras begin rolling. \u201cIn terms of film, you sit down, you read the whole script, you break down, understand the character,\u201d they said. \u201cEverybody needs to be on the same page, otherwise it will show.\u201d<\/p>\n Even amid evolving trends, the stylist believes the emotional impact of cinema remains timeless.
