“I think Beatrice and Eugenie would be wise to leave their properties”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\nPrincess Eugenie and Beatrice have received a major warning over royal properties ahead of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee review.<\/p>\n
As per reports the committee is reportedly preparing to examine rental agreements on some of the Crown Estate’s most prestigious properties occupied by the Royal Family members later this year.<\/p>\n
Warning has come from Norman Baker, the former Liberal Democrat Home Affairs minister.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Daily Mail<\/i>, Baker said, “It is good that parliament, which generally does its best never to look into royal matters, has been forced by public opinion to examine the outrageous rental agreements which both ex-Prince Andrew and his brother Prince Edward have enjoyed near-zero rents for gigantic mansions in the most charming surroundings of Windsor Great Park.”<\/p>\n
Sarah and Andrew\u2019s elder daughter Princess Beatrice maintains a rented apartment at St James’s Palace and Eugenie retains Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace.<\/p>\n
The former minister suggested: “I think Beatrice and Eugenie would be wise to leave their properties in St James\u2019s Palace and Kensington Palace before people start asking too many questions. Non-working royals should never benefit from grace-and-favour or peppercorn rent arrangements.”<\/p>\n
Meanwhile,, Prince William had announced he will pay market rent for Forest Lodge, Baker continued.<\/p>\n
“William has seen the warning signs and announced he will pay a market rent for their sumptuous new home, Forest Lodge, built in the 1770s.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
