Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u2018s replacement, Byron Allen<\/a>, just set the record straight after The Late Show<\/a> With Stephen Colbert<\/a><\/em> aired its final episode<\/a> on May 21.<\/p>\n On May 22, the host of Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen<\/a><\/em> \u2014 which is taking over Colbert\u2019s 11:35 p.m. time slot on CBS \u2014 set the record straight about his intentions during a conversation with NPR<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the end of the day, I\u2019m not trying to replace Colbert,\u201d Allen, 65, explained. \u201cI am not trying to hold on to his audience because Comics Unleashed<\/em> has been around 20 years and has its own audience.\u201d<\/p>\n Additionally, Allen called Colbert, 62, an \u201cAmerican treasure,\u201d while admitting, \u201cNot everybody\u2019s gonna love me. But there is that one or two percent that would be like \u2018hell yeah, I\u2019m rolling with you\u2019 and I learned that at an early age, and by the way, that simple lesson made me a billionaire.\u201d<\/p>\n
