Following a five-year hiatus from worship ministry, Cory Asbury is returning with new music, describing it as a return to his calling and purpose.<\/p>\n
His latest single and title track, “Outsing The Angels,” was officially released on all streaming platforms last week.<\/p>\n
Asbury says the new track to be released from his forthcoming album is an anthem for those who are done playing it safe.<\/p>\n
“‘Outsing the Angels’ is a call to outlandish, unruly worship,” said Asbury. “It\u2019s the childlike, almost foolish notion that we, mere mortals, could somehow contend with the very beings created for the sole purpose of worship. Honestly, it\u2019s preposterous. But it\u2019s a reminder that we were once young and wild and full of life and passion before the mundaneness of everyday life dulled our love for Him.”<\/p>\n
After a season marked by disconnection, cynicism, and the pursuit of lesser things, Asbury says he is entering a new season of worship.<\/p>\n
He says he realized his wandering was not only affecting his own life but also hurting the community of believers. That period came to a close following honest correction and encouragement from fellow artist\u00a0Forrest Frank<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n “Got a pretty sobering reality check today,” said Asbury in an earlier social post. “Forrest Frank, you\u2019re right, there really is no seatbelt on social media. I hopped on a trend without thinking, and I\u2019m genuinely sorry for that. But I\u2019m also hopeful because I know God doesn\u2019t waste moments like these. He can take even our missteps and use them to redirect us, teaching us how to walk in grace and move forward with more wisdom and love.”<\/p>\n Asbury is now preparing for a tour alongside Forrest Frank, Tori Kelly and The Figs. The first show is scheduled for June 1 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.<\/p>\n Outsing The Angels<\/em> is\u00a0set to be released Sept. 18.<\/p>\n
